who R those girls?

or better yet, where are they?!

See Syd scream in this alt. video of Arnold Layne:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1wf_C8EVvU

Maybe not as clever as the version with the mannekin, but rarer, and Syd screams.

This one has the loudest audio of the many copies on youtube.

The mono version of Piper has a lot of differences from the stereo well worth checking out.

The 40th anniversary edition (has both stereo and mono) is supposed to be miles above all pervious releases.

Beware the USA "A Nice Pair" - they screwed up the Piper mix (the UK version of Nice Pair got it right).

This is a tough question. They changed as a band so much through the years.
I'd have to start with:
Meddle
Piper
Saucerful of Secrets

Then, I think...
The Final Cut
Pros and Cons of HitchHiking
Barrett

I'm schizophrenic and So am I

I agree with your list snori:

Ummagumma 1st disc
Meddle - Echoes
Wish you were here
Animals

Though I have been listening to a number of early 70 shows that mix wish you were here and the dark side tunes and some of the dark side stuff is sounding good and growing on me. Plus it is teaching me that they were GREAT live!!!
